I had the pleasure of meeting Jay in a French class in Cégep. Jay and I sat beside each other and it didn't take long for us to become friends. Jay is a very charismatic person, and his positive and fun nature is contagious.
Over the course of our friendship, Jay has always been open to listening and helping me through my problems. His ability to siphon through information, feelings, emotions, fears, hesitations and to help me come up with solutions is exceptional. Jay is one of the best people in my world to give me honest, unbiased advice. His belief in me is one of such conviction and certainty, that it becomes difficult to not believe it myself.
Jay has helped guide me through many decisions. The one that stands out the most for me is after graduating from university, I was considering moving across the country. At the time, this was one of the biggest decisions I had to make in my life. I felt afraid to make such a big change in my life. I contemplated the idea for a couple of months; feelings of uncertainty and doubt plagued me. I felt I was stuck and I couldn't come to any conclusion.
I can genuinely say, those feelings were almost completely swapped with more positive feelings after I had breakfast with Jay and was able to talk with him. Jay has an ability to listen, appreciate and understand the intricacies of the situation. I never feel judged by admitting I have fears or apprehensions with Jay, and I always feel that he truly has my best intentions in mind. He has an ability to put things in perspective, in a way that always make sense to me. Jay instills people with confidence and positivity.
I took some time after our discussion to make my decision, at that point, everything seemed much more clear. I felt optimistic and assured with my decision. More importantly, I felt excited about my upcoming move. I have Jay to thank for all of that.
Looking back I can say with certainty that it was the best decision of my life. I started my career as a physiotherapist and I also met my husband. I feel that by making that first 'big' decision of my life with confidence, it set the tone for other big decisions moving forward. I grew as a person both personally and professionally, in ways that I think only Jay believed could be true at the time.
